Climate protection project: SIGNUM glacier drops
In Switzerland, we are feeling the effects of climate change directly, particularly in the rapid retreat of our glaciers. For us at SIGNUM FAIR JEWELS, nature is of fundamental importance as a habitat worthy of protection. That is why we are continuously committed to protecting and preserving it. For many years, we have been committed to sustainable, fair jewelry making. This gave rise to the idea of creating a piece of jewelry that embodies our values and brings many people together. The SIGNUM Glacier Drop is more than just a piece of jewelry – it is a symbol of the beauty and sensitivity of Alpine nature. With your purchase of this special pendant, you are not only making an active contribution to climate protection, but also receiving a piece of joie de vivre. We donate a large part of the proceeds from your glacier drop to Pro Alps (formerly Alpen-Initiative). The association campaigns for Alps worth living in.
Glacier drops
SIGNUM glacier drops: design with meaning
The design of the glacier drop depicts a mountain glacier. In the center of the pendant, the gemstone drop shines in its natural beauty – a worldwide symbol for the vital element of water. In all its facets, water is essential for us all and can also become a danger if nature gets out of balance.
Sustainable and fair: valuable material, valuable origin
Each pendant is made in our manufactory from recycled silver or fairtrade gold. You can choose between crystals such as rock crystals and smoky quartz from the Swiss Alps – the Surselva / Grisons, or a water-blue aquamarine drop from ZIMBAQUA, the world’s first gemstone cooperative in Zimbabwe that is run exclusively by women and operates according to ethical standards. We made a conscious decision to include gemstones from Africa in the glacier drops: for us, climate protection is a global issue. It is also about promoting sustainable projects in poorer regions. The fact that the women then also promote beautiful aquamarines is doubly fitting in this case.
